Amine solutions are a general term for a class of organic alkaline solutions, typically referring to weakly alkaline organic amine solvents used in desulfurization and decarbonization processes to absorb hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide. Among these, alkanolamines are the most common; typical examples include monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), diisopropanolamine (DIPA), N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), and their mixtures.
Amine solutions are commonly used in chemical processes such as petroleum, natural gas, coal chemical industry, and synthetic ammonia production to adsorb and remove impurities like hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide from feed gases. Afterward, the amine solution is heated and distilled, then returned to the adsorption tower for repeated use in a closed-loop cycle.
